Karen

Karen completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba in 2016.
She then moved to Montreal for two years to complete her Master’s degree in
Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) at McGill University. She gained invaluable
experience providing SLP services to children attending First Nations schools
across Manitoba for multiple years, and currently works as an SLP in a school
division in Winnipeg.

Karen has worked with preschoolers, children and teens of various skill and
developmental levels. She is passionate about finding creative ways to help
children express their ideas, feelings, and needs, and has significant experience
using speech-generating devices and visual supports to help them
communicate. Karen is always incorporating the child and family’s perspective into the services she provides, and believes that communication skills are best built through play and fun experiences.

Aside from work, Karen loves trying out a variety of new activities and sports with her
husband. She also can’t turn down an opportunity to try a new restaurant, and is always looking for new recipes to try.
