Emily

Emily is an occupational therapist, excited to join the Berkowitz Therapeds team! Emily graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2013 with an undergraduate degree in biological sciences. She then went on to complete her master’s degree in occupational therapy and graduated in 2016.

Emily has experience working with children and youth of all ages and abilities. She previously worked providing school therapy services in many First Nations Communities across Manitoba. She is passionate about supporting families from a strengths-based perspective and helping children to build meaningful skills and confidence. As play is the main “occupation” of childhood, sessions are child-led, play based, and include the child’s unique interests. Emily has knowledge in the areas of trauma-informed care, sensory processing and self/co-regulation.

When Emily is not working as an occupational therapist, she is busy chasing after her one-year-old twins and two dogs. She loves spending time at her cabin in the Whiteshell, gardening, reading and yoga.

Talk with a Berkowitz TheraPeds clinician

The Berkowitz TheraPeds team acknowledges that we live, work, play, and connect on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. We acknowledge that our water is from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation. In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, we commit to learning and understanding the trauma and harms experienced by Indigenous Peoples. We strive to listen, learn from and collaborate with Indigenous Peoples and Communities.
